National analysis
The purpose of this National Analysis (Intellectual Product 1 under the project) is to serve as a foundation and tool for the preparation of youth workers, representatives of local authorities, teachers, and young people regarding the promotion of active youth participation. It covers all four dimensions of active citizenship - social, cultural, economic, and political - and provides the necessary information base for the effective subsequent work of various stakeholders in supporting the increase of youth engagement in all spheres of public and political life. The main methods used in conducting the research and preparing this analysis are: - Search, selection, and review of studies within the country/project-covered areas and other available literature and reliable sources of information on the topic - Use of the results of conducted survey research among youth from the target groups in the two project-covered areas - Sofia and Kardzhali, Bulgaria (the survey research report is attached below) and Secondary analysis of previously conducted studies, research, and analyses on the topic. This analysis was prepared as part of the project 2020-2-BG01-KA205-079486 Creativity and Innovation for Active Citizenship (CIAC) under the Erasmus+ program, with the lead organization being 'OMEGA' (Kardzhali, Bulgaria), and partners 'Korenyak' Foundation (Sofia, Bulgaria) and 'DRUSTVO ZA RAZVIJANJE PROSTOVOLJNEGA DELA NOVO MESTO' (Slovenia). The main target groups of the project are: Youth; Youth leaders; Youth workers; Youth volunteers; Youth NGOs and Authorities at the local, regional, and national levels.

Within the project 'Creativity and Innovation for Active Citizenship,' implemented in Bulgaria and Slovenia, we successfully implemented a series of activities aimed at systematically covering all four dimensions of youth participation - political, social, economic, and cultural. Initially, the focus was on developing a National Analysis of Youth Engagement, which is a guiding document providing valuable insights into citizenship, active participation, and the complex network of factors influencing youth attitudes toward these topics. The 'National Analysis of Youth Engagement and Youth Attitudes in Bulgaria and Slovenia towards citizenship, civic education, and youth participation' is a key instrument and represents Intellectual Product 1 within our project. This analysis is created to serve as a valuable resource for the preparation of youth workers, representatives of local authorities, teachers, and also for young people aspiring to actively participate in society. The goal of this document is to inspire and encourage the increase of youth engagement in various spheres of public and political life. The analysis provides a comprehensive information base covering youth attitudes toward citizenship, civic education, and their participation in youth and civic initiatives. To access this valuable resource and participate in the preparation of the next generations of active citizens, we invite you to download the National Analysis directly from our website. We believe that this intellectual product will serve as a valuable tool for the development and promotion of youth participation in society.
Materials
The foundation of the National Analysis was built through a carefully crafted questionnaire, which included 22 formulated questions divided into two sections: "Basic Information" and "Citizenship, Civic Education, and Youth Participation." Over 170 participants from the three organizations took part in this survey. The analyses of the questionnaires from the three organizations provide a detailed overview of youth engagement in the field of citizenship and participation. These reports are a valuable source of information and findings from the study of youth perspectives in various cultural and social contexts, conducted in diverse regions, including the small town of Kardzhali and the capital, Sofia, in Bulgaria, as well as the economic and cultural capital of Slovenia, Novo Mesto. These reports represent a key informational resource, providing comprehensive information and analyses focused on the characteristics and challenges that youth face in different communities. The collected data offers a broad view of the impact of civic education, cultural context, and economic conditions on youth participation in society. This informational resource is of paramount importance for formulating strategies and initiatives aimed at more effectively supporting youth activity and participation in various areas and environments in which they are involved. The provided information serves as a basis for developing innovative approaches and solutions capable of addressing the needs and challenges that youth experience in today's society. We believe that this valuable source of knowledge will serve all interested parties, including youth workers, educational institutions, and community representatives. To make the most of this resource and use it as a basis for developing innovative and appropriate strategies, we encourage you to download it directly from our website.
